first time all weekend to update. of course, i should be posting about the creative musical challenge.. but im slow. too bad :)
so. should it be a detailed analysis or a skim-through edition? i think its the first. get ready for the longest post yet.
BAND prac. we were taught under ms sia that day. all the woodwinds. it was, ah, horrifiying. that was because everyone seemed to be not up to her standard. maybe it was also her initial bad mood. she even picked us out 1 by 1 to play the e chromatic scale. in the end, we practiced yiddish. NG and emily switched. so em is my partner now. mixed emotions. mostly negative. x)
DAY 1: [23 Nov]lunch was okay. not to my taste, but still alright. my group was TI. group 7. had 10 people in it. our first game was
'atoms and molecules'. it was just multi-level captain's ball with a weird name. since our camp theme was:
CHEMISTRY. sigh. it was rather disgusting again, because we had this nice element of fishballs. totally .. squishy?? definitely not your favourite ball for playing Any kind of sport.
game 2 was
'scavanger hunt'. we had to collect 5 watches, 10 strands of hair, 3 shoelaces, chinese names of 5 leaders. my group finished that 1st. yays. then we had drills. long longg drills. right after pt and sit-ups. argh. after that was a sort of break time, where we all blocked the corridor and had fun. i ended up playing with perc section. felt like odd 1 out. we played macaroni. an old game :D
game number 3.
'musician of the year' . we had to go to 5 stations, all related with food. rather disgusting. our group had to:
task
1. drink 2 bottles of 1.5l water.
task
2. squeeze watermelon juice enough to fill a cup and drink it.
task
3. eat 3 bananas, 1 apple without using hands.
task
4. do a relay race with a lemon as our.. baton? without using hands. therefore, the mouth.
task
5. build our Musician of the Year.
we built a simple windchime instead. and talked about how the simplest stuff is often overlooked and we must appreciate such stuff. in other words, it was all bull.
got to have dinner after that. ate with the ng gang. then rushed to bathe. LONGG Q. waited for at least 1/2 hour. at least. my shampoo bottle even broke. urgh.well, maybe cause i dropped it :P
they gave us some free time in the nice air-conditioned hall before starting on game number 4:
'survivor' hmm. that was fun. basically we were to be blindfolded and, by putting ur hands on the shoulder of the one in front of you, be led around by a leader each. 8 groups, 8 leaders.
i had a little problem, because i didnt bring anything to tie and no 1 was able to lend me something. until tsuwie lent me her.. medium sized towel. thanks! so. i ended up being the last in my group, which was both good and bad. i didnt have to lead anyone behind, however, i could hardly hear what my 'leader' was saying.
after un-blindfolding ourselves, we could see our entire ' journey ' around the courtytard area. weird. we also had a v. fun time amusing ourselves with angeline's group. because she and esther had been separated from the line, meaning esther wasnt behind youting anymore. the leaders took this grand oppourtunity to make everything even messier. gillian even connected herself to the line, just for fun. of course, who could resist giving all of them a tickling sensation. heh heh.
we ended up sitting in a huge circle and playing the squeeze-hand murderer. there was a mix-up also, when fatmah thought she was a murderer when she was supposed to be a policeman. all thanks to alicia's pat-become-poke action..! then the leaders sat in the middle and formed a 'fire'. cause they still wearing orange band tee and had their torchlights on (:
sleeping time was horrible. after lights out, we found that only ng and i were still wide-eyed. so we started to talk. she started to look for her other 'targets' , after i felt like trying to sleep. therefore, people like sweejin and athirah were awake too. awhile later, my whole section was awake, and very noisy as well. basically they stirred almost everyone up, dashing all my sleeping hopes. i suppose i did start to sleep around 1+.. but not before suffering :/
DAY 2: [24 Nov]woke up very early. no luh, just 6 in the morning. i suppose it just felt early. we had biscuits for energy before doing morning exercise. !! then we had to play this game called
'hidden electrons'. 1 person was taken from each group and our aim was to find her and the kidnapper. at each station we will be given a clue to help us. for us, ie. group 7.. our stations were:
1. cooking lab [cihui]-4 chinese, 4 english names of leaders.
%we did forfeit of 3mins delay instead.
2. hydroponics area [lichu]-piece a page of yiddish together, sing 5 bars
%was super delayed as place couldnt be found. did cheer for alicia and jess to get help.
3. foyer [zhiyin]
-find our hidden clue
%found very quickly and caught up with other groups.
4. back of canteen [gillian]-take water using straw, turn 5 rounds then hop on 1 foot and transport the water into a plastic bag until marking is reached.
%no bad. very hard for me to do though.
5. rescue our kidnapped! [thilanga]- do something to get her out.
%did our bob the builder cheer to 'save' her.
6. clue to kidnapper. [alicia]-make her laugh to get clue.
%said 2 unsuccessful jokes but she relented in the end.
7. find kidnapper(jess)- just walk around, find ur suspect, ask.
%we got gillian to give us a clue. was the 2nd team to reach her 'hideout' - the av control room in the galleria.
we played our final game before doing our farewell preparations. it was called
'mobile'. very short and kind of stupid actually. just 2 stations. first was to stand in the middle and get the shoe in the middle without using any limbs first. we threw a bottle[mine] towards the shoe so it would be closer to someone . then used our hands to grab it. second was to lie down behind a line. first person will start to roll over us and lie down again at the back. second person will do the same. all the way until we reached the second line they drawn. very painful on the knees but quite fun to roll on others :D
i learnt the bottle game from my seniors! we played that right after lunch. though i was slow, bur but still did it! and learnt toilet bowl too!! its very fun. i was made into urine even. bleh
FAREWELLfinally! we had some problems, like the soundtracks cd not able to be opened. we were also rushing to practice coronation march. i was very nervous. cos its like my first official playing in front of people.. anyways, we had to shift around , get ready, blahblah. when everything was ready, went down to the canteen to 'ying jie' the sec4s. then mrs lim came down and made a small speech. finally, we were allowed to take the food after sec4s helped themselves. all our seniors came! except gail.
we waited for everyone to take their food before our whole section started to eat together. sweet erh? after shangyu informed us that we only have 7 more mins to eat (we had to go at 1.50 and the sec4s at 2.15), our section was gulping down food as quick as possible. we actually rushed back in time only to find that we were the only ones. hmph!! took this time to check the video and soundtracks. all was well.
the whole farewell thing was really very touching and sweet. as we play, that section's seniors will come in and hear us. it will be all dark except for stage lights. everything went wonderfully. now on to the play. clarinet was first, so... it was a great start. we were funny, really. our story was about the beast (in beauty and the beast) searching for all sorts of items to prove his love to Beauty. then other sections' turn. it will either be a video or a play. more memorable ones were saxaphone, in the form of a narrative, about all the little unseen things about their seniors, and percussion, about their 3 seniors life as they grow up, ending with chinghong giving birth ((:
of course, the best yet was LEADERS item. a gameshow where u had to survive the longest to win. thilanga-host, zhiyin-nerd, jessica-complain queen, lichu-badboy rocker, gillian-depressed and emo, cihui-indian old lady i think, alicia-mommy's girl & wanning-bimbo. really funny. ended with only cihui, lichu and alicia left. cihui let out two lethal farts, one on each side, and they were dead, making her the winner. interesting huh? i wonder how last year's play was. definitely just as good, if not better.
the leader's video was made by That group. very sweet, just like her previous one. shall watch it later okie. after the ceremony was 'officially' over, our seniors gave us our section tee! very nice yah!! we had to clear our stuff from the hall, keep stuff in band room then rush to change and take photo of all of us!front view, side view (with our names written), back view.. lala, very crazy. it felt too soon to be over. sigh. at least had great memories!
me and ng tried to take a photo of us with the same name on our sleeves. didnt turn out very well.. but still!! i totally enjoyed at least 85% of the camp. the other 15% is in okay mode :) looking forward to next year's.
